Dr. Stephen W. Lipson

1956 - 2012

Lipson Dental Group is named after the founder of our practice, Dr. Stephen W. Lipson. Born in Boston, he grew up in North Miami Beach, graduating from the University of Florida. In 1982, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Emory University School of Dentistry.

In 1984, he completed a hospital residency at the University of Louisville, opening his first office on Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, Georgia. Expansion began in 1989 as Dr. Lipson acquired the practice of retiring Dr. Clyde Anderson, and moved to a larger facility within Tucker.

In 2007, Dr. Lipson built the beautiful facility that is now the home of Lipson Dental Group. In 2010, he welcomed neighboring dentist, Dr. William Brandenburg to join the practice. Continued growth required the search for an additional associate, one whose expertise and patient philosophy would be a compliment to the high standards already in place. Happily, that search resulted in the addition of Dr. Rishi Kapur in September 2011. This combination consequently formed a practice with over 40 years of dental experience and a commitment to excellent, compassionate patient care.

Dr. Lipson's vision created the highest standard of care that continues to be the foundation of Lipson Dental Group. A constant student of the profession, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry, and inducted into the International College of Dentistry. As a founding member of the Emory Study Club, his colleagues renamed the group, "The Dr. Steve Lipson/Emory Study Club," to honor his professional skill and humanitarianism.

Dr. Lipson was married for 32 years to Linda and had two sons, Eric and Ryan. He was passionate about golf, music, and was an accomplished guitar player, a gift he passed on to his sons. In the summer of 2012, Dr. Stephen Lipson lost his battle with cancer, but his vision remains the soul of Lipson Dental Group as his legacy continues.
